WACKER Improves EcoVadis Sustainability Rating
WACKER has reported an improvement in its EcoVadis sustainability rating, increasing its overall score from 77 points in 2024 to 79 in the latest assessment.
According to the company, the higher score reflects expanded sustainability reporting and additional initiatives addressing Scope 3 emissions and ethics. EcoVadis evaluates companies on a scale of 0 to 100, assessing sustainability management systems across areas including environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“The result confirms our initiatives in many key areas,” said Peter Gigler, head of WACKER’s ESG department. He noted that the score provides customers with third-party verification of the company’s sustainability activities.
The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000. Companies are evaluated using a scorecard that measures performance across 21 indicators.
WACKER stated that it shares its EcoVadis assessment results with customers to provide standardized documentation of sustainability efforts across its operations.
The company has also established long-term climate targets. According to WACKER, it aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 compared with 2020 levels. The company reports that it has already achieved a 30% reduction in absolute emissions as of 2024. WACKER has also set a goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2045.
