ITW Performance Polymers Launches Devcon Korrobond 65 Ultra Crusher Backing Compound
ITW Performance Polymers has introduced Devcon® Korrobond™ 65 Ultra, a new crusher backing compound developed for gyratory and cone crusher applications in mining and aggregate operations.
According to the company, the two-component epoxy formulation was developed to improve safety, processing speed, and mechanical strength in demanding crushing environments. ITW Performance Polymers stated that, following reformulation, certain hazard pictograms previously associated with environmental, health, and acute toxicity warnings are no longer included on the safety data sheet and product label.
The company reports that the new formulation is designed to maintain performance while reducing handling hazards during mixing, pouring, and curing. ITW Performance Polymers also stated that the product offers increased compressive and tensile strength, along with improved impact resistance and minimal shrinkage.
Published performance data provided by the company lists compressive strength at 135 ±7 MPa (19,500 ±1000 psi), tensile strength at 41.37 MPa (6,000 psi), and impact resistance that ITW Performance Polymers says is nearly 30% higher than previous systems. The company added that shrinkage is less than 0.01%.
In addition to strength-related properties, ITW Performance Polymers stated that the product is designed to support faster return to service, with a functional cure time of 4–6 hours, a pot life of 15–20 minutes at 23°C / 73°F, and 100% solids composition with no solvents.
