W. R. MEADOWS Expands PERMINATOR Vapor Barrier Line with 20 Mil Option

Adhesives, Industry News, Sealants,

W. R. MEADOWS has introduced PERMINATOR 20 MIL, an underslab vapor barrier designed to limit the movement of moisture and water vapor through concrete slabs into building interiors.

According to the company, the new 20 mil product expands the existing PERMINATOR line, which already includes 10 mil and 15 mil options. W. R. MEADOWS stated that the added thickness is intended to provide greater puncture resistance and durability for projects requiring added protection under demanding jobsite conditions.

The company noted that moisture migration through concrete slabs remains a major contributor to flooring failures, mold growth, and other indoor environmental issues. W. R. MEADOWS reports that PERMINATOR 20 MIL is designed to help protect floor coverings, adhesives, and interior building components by reducing uncontrolled moisture transmission.

In addition, the company stated that the barrier is intended to help reduce the potential for fungus, mildew, and mold growth, while also resisting methane gas migration and limiting radon intrusion in applicable environments.

“Controlling moisture beneath concrete slabs is critical to the long-term performance of flooring systems and building interiors,” said Donnie Kruger, Product Manager, Building Envelope for W. R. MEADOWS. He said the product was developed to provide contractors with a vapor barrier suited for challenging site conditions.

According to W. R. MEADOWS, PERMINATOR 20 MIL is manufactured using polyolefin-based technology and is designed to withstand typical construction traffic without readily cracking, puncturing, or tearing. The company also noted that the product is installed in 105-foot rolls, with seams overlapped and sealed using PERMINATOR TAPE to create a continuous barrier beneath the slab.

W. R. MEADOWS reports that the product has a VOC content of 0 g/L and includes visible thickness markings for jobsite identification. The product is manufactured in the United States and distributed through the company’s authorized network.
