Dow AFFINITY™ GA 1900 Targets High-Performance Hot-Melt Adhesive Formulations

Adhesives, Industry News, Sealants,

Dow’s AFFINITY™ GA 1900 is a polyolefin material designed for hot-melt adhesive formulations requiring a balance of flexibility, viscosity stability, tack, and bond strength across a range of temperatures.

According to Dow, the material can be used in packaging hot melts, nonwoven adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, woodworking adhesives, and assembly applications.

AFFINITY™ GA 1900 is designed to provide high green strength, strong bonding performance, stable viscosity, low color, and reduced yellowing. Dow also states that the material supports clean-running formulations with low gel and char formation and reduced stringing or spider webbing.

The grade has a melt index of 1,000 g/10 min and a density of 0.870 g/cm³. Dow lists a melting point of approximately 67.8°C and viscosity of 8,195 cP at 350°F.

Within Dow’s broader AFFINITY™ GA portfolio, the technology is positioned as an alternative to traditional EVA-based hot-melt formulations. The company states that its polyolefin elastomers can support strong adhesion across a broad temperature range while reducing odor, equipment fouling, and downtime.

The material is intended for formulators seeking improved processing consistency and adhesive mileage while maintaining bond strength and rapid set during manufacturing and assembly operations.
