EPS Launches High-Solids Acrylic Polymer for Adhesive and Sealant Formulation
Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) has introduced EPS® 2180, a high-solids, all-acrylic polymer developed for adhesive and sealant formulations requiring a balance of peel adhesion, shear performance, and formulation flexibility.
According to EPS, the new waterborne acrylic polymer is designed for applications including vinyl flooring adhesives, film-to-film lamination, and plasticizer-free pigmented caulks.
“EPS® 2180 was developed to address a common challenge for adhesive formulators: achieving excellent peel adhesion without sacrificing shear performance,” said Robert W. Sandoval, Ph.D., R&D Technical Director at EPS. He added that the polymer also provides high-temperature shear resistance in a waterborne acrylic system.
The product is formulated at 60% solids and is designed to provide broad adhesion, high-temperature shear resistance, and resistance to plasticizers. EPS also stated that the polymer is made without APEOs or fluorosurfactants.
The launch expands EPS’ portfolio of acrylic emulsions for adhesive, sealant, construction, and industrial applications.
