W. R. MEADOWS Expands Foam Product Capabilities with Alcot Plastics Acquisition

W. R. MEADOWS has acquired Alcot Plastics Ltd., a Guelph, Ontario-based manufacturer of extruded polyethylene foam products, expanding its presence in foam technology and related construction materials.

According to W. R. MEADOWS, the acquisition is intended to broaden its product portfolio, strengthen manufacturing capabilities, and expand service across North America and Canada. The company stated that adding Alcot Plastics’ foam extrusion expertise supports its broader growth strategy in construction materials.

Founded in 1983, Alcot Plastics produces products including backer rods, expansion joint fillers, screening spline, foam sheets, pool noodles, and custom foam items. W. R. MEADOWS said Alcot’s proprietary single-screw extrusion technology supports shorter startup times, efficient smaller-order production, and automated process control.

Under the transaction, Alcot Plastics will continue operating under its current name and management structure as an independent business unit. W. R. MEADOWS also stated that all employees will remain in place.

Glenn Tench, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at W. R. MEADOWS, said the acquisition reflects the company’s long-term growth strategy and its intent to expand partnerships and product capabilities.

The acquisition adds foam-based materials to W. R. MEADOWS’ broader construction solutions portfolio and may create additional opportunities in manufacturing and product development, according to the company.
