ASC Launches Sustainability Core Course For Adhesive & Sealant Professionals
February 3, 2026 – Alexandria, VA – The Adhesive & Sealant Council (ASC) has launched the Sustainability Core Course, a new addition to ASC’s TAC program, designed to help adhesive and sealant professionals navigate rising sustainability, carbon reporting, and regulatory demands.
Developed with input from ASC’s Technical and Sustainability Committees, the self-paced course provides industry-specific education on how sustainability expectations apply to adhesives and sealants in applications such as automotive, packaging, and construction.
As customer expectations, OEM requirements, and global regulations continue to evolve, the industry faces pressure to address Scope 1–3 emissions, life cycle assessments, product carbon footprints, circularity, and environmental data transparency. The Sustainability Core Course, in combination with ASC’s sustainability initiative program, provides industry-specific guidance to help professionals understand and apply these concepts in real-world applications.
“Sustainability expectations for adhesives and sealants are increasing rapidly, and the industry needs clear, practical guidance,” said Mani Singh, ASC’s Director of Technical Services. “This course was developed with collaboration between academia and industry to help companies move beyond buzzwords and understand what sustainability actually means for adhesives and sealants across different markets.”
Unlike general sustainability programs, the course is tailored to the unique role adhesives and sealants play across packaging, construction, automotive, and manufacturing applications. Topics include environmental data fundamentals, carbon and GHG emissions, mass balance approaches for renewable raw materials, LCAs, PCFs, EPDs, and circular design considerations.
Tim Long, PhD, Professor at Arizona State University, who provides an academic and systems-thinking perspective on sustainable polymer science; Casey Mahalick, a sustainability specialist focusing on environmental data and carbon accounting; and Kelly Williams, a leading expert in sustainable raw materials and methods. A market focused discussion includes presentation from Annett Linemann, PhD, an industry expert in automotive sustainability and circularity, Megan Thomas, PhD, sustainability strategist and decarbonization expert, and Graeme Roan, PhD, sustainability expert in the packaging industry.
The course is designed for R&D, product management, sustainability, regulatory, sales, and leadership teams across the A&S value chain. No prior sustainability expertise is required.
The Sustainability Core Course is available only to subscribers of ASC’s Training Academy Certificate (TAC) program. This incredible online learning platform is designed specifically for the A&S industry to support continuous, cost-effective workforce development. The program provides companies access to a growing library of technical and professional training courses, allowing organizations to train entire teams—from new hires to experienced professionals—at a predictable and affordable cost.
