Henkel Reduces Cradle-to-Gate Carbon Emissions for Technomelt Supra 130 Cool

Adhesives, Industry News, Sealants,

Henkel Adhesive Technologies has announced that Technomelt Supra 130 Cool is now produced with at least a 20% reduction in carbon emissions measured across the cradle-to-gate portion of the value chain.

According to the company, the adhesive’s chemical formulation remains unchanged, and the reduction in emissions was achieved through supplier partnerships that replace fossil-based inputs with renewable resources and incorporate more energy-efficient technologies into existing production processes. Henkel stated that these lower-emission raw materials are now used at all relevant production sites across Europe.

Technomelt Supra 130 Cool is used in carton, tray, and folding box applications in both food and non-food packaging sectors. Henkel reported that customers will receive the updated product without changes to bonding performance or supply continuity.

Kathrin Hein, Vice President Consumer Goods EIMEA at Henkel, said reducing CO2e emissions across the supply chain is an important step in lowering the emissions profile of industrial adhesives. She added that the company views the change as part of broader efforts to support sustainability goals within the packaging industry.

Henkel indicated that the change allows customers using Technomelt Supra 130 Cool to access a product with a lower carbon footprint without modifications to application processes or logistics.
