About the Role:
The HSE Leader will develop and implement Environmental Health & Safety programs, procedures, associated training, and guidance documents for North America. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, healthy, and safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support achievement and implementation of OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Lead incident/injury investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Educate and train project team members in safety requirements, best practices in incident preventions.
- Perform health and safety inspections, assessments, and audits
- Coordinate, review, and monitor non-routine work activities that have the potential to adversely impact operations, the environment, or health & safety.
- Develops project plans and timelines based on strategic EHS goals and objectives.
- Partner with departments to recognize hazards and prevent injuries.
- Conduct training including but not limited to new hire orientation, compliance, forklift, scissor lift, LOTO, Machine guarding, chemical hygiene, etc.
- Administer EH&S programs driving participation, data entry, evaluation, and reporting.
- Maintain required records for safety training, safety inspections, and other EHS tasks.
- Answer questions and assist associates, supervisors, and contractors on EHS related matters.
- Manage safety shoe and prescriptive eyewear programs.
- Coordinate hazardous waste shipments
- Disposal of hazardous waste in appropriate waste container and transport to central accumulation area

Education and Experience Requirements
- 5 - 7 years of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) experience and/or chemical safety in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, or Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
- Experience conducting incident evaluations to identify root cause and corrective actions.
- Two years of general industry safety experience strongly preferred.
- OSHA 30 General Industry strongly preferred.

POSITION: CHEMIST (Electronic Materials/Aerospace) - MOMENTIVE

Summary:
The chemist will lead projects for the electronic materials business and serve customers in markets including aviation, aerospace, and automotive. The chemist will:
• Develop new innovative silicone RTV products.
• Provide continuous improvement for production of existing products.

The chemist will work as part of a cross-functional global team including product development, marketing, sales, sourcing, process technology, and manufacturing. The chemist will rigorously apply safe work practices and incorporate sustainability into the design of new products.
Responsibilities Include:
- Champion EHS management systems, foster a safety culture in the workplace through active participation in safety meetings, inspections and initiatives. Work safely in the laboratory and manufacturing setting to minimize risks and improve sustainability when designing new experiments, products, or processes.
- Work independently to design new formulated silicone products for the electronic materials and aerospace business. Lead new product development through laboratory, pilot, and commercial scale, working alongside process technology, quality, and manufacturing partners.
- Develop solutions to complex/conflicting customer and business needs, translates established technologies into new market segments, ability to engage and leverage non-tech/cross-functional audience, ability to plan projects (set appropriate targets & milestones and resource planning) to ensure success of projects. Ability to provide technical mentoring to new employees & technicians
- Apply project management skills to assess program gaps and identify resources needed to meet targets and milestones.
- Investigate property-structure relationships, analyze product failure modes, and identify key process parameters. Distill high-level theoretical concepts into practical, useful solutions. Review relevant technical literature and patents to understand the competitive landscape and apply this knowledge in new product development.
- Leverage technical networks and collaborate across business units within Momentive to understand business opportunities for new product development. Seek to become a technical expert and resource for our global technology team.
- Support manufacturing, quality and supply chain functions with technical troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
The following are required for the role
- This position is subject to the ITAR regulations. All candidates must be eligible to work on ITAR projects.
- PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or relevant physical science with 5+ years of industrial R&D experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a chemical laboratory and chemical manufacturing setting. Ability to identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Demonstrated understanding of polymer structure–property relationships and the ability to design new chemical formulations based on the material requirements.

Base Pay Range: $107,000 - $156,750

- Support the supply chain management team in identifying and qualifying vendors of raw materials and additives.
- Keep abreast of novel technologies in adhesive industry. Assess and recommend feasibility of such technical innovations for Sonoco applications.
- Lead or support quality assurance function in identifying root causes of quality issues, establishing and implementing control changes to provide long-term sustainable improvements at customer locations
- Maintain complete and accurate records on intellectual properties and pursue patent application or trade secrets as appropriate.

POSITION: Research Scientist - Adhesives and Coatings

We are seeking a hands-on Research Scientist to lead the development of solvent-based and water-based copolyester adhesives and coatings, specifically for Bostik’s Vitel® copolyester product line. This role supports innovation and product maintenance in food and industrial flexible packaging applications, with a strong focus on customer engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
Job Dimensions
- Drive new product development and product line maintenance for Vitel® copolyester adhesives and coatings. Applications cover food and industrial markets using this technology.
- Material science and application expertise in the flexible packaging market is necessary.
