The Covid 19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of personal and business life. On a business level, the pandemic has affected every aspect of operations, including research and development, manufacturing, sales, promotion and marketing of products, demand for product, employee health, staffing, hiring, materials supplies, and financial well-being. Changes were made to deal with the pandemic effects, many of which will remain long after the pandemic is over. Discussion will involve some of the effects of the pandemic on businesses, changes made to accommodate the effects, and how the conduct of business may change in the future. Discussion will also consider how businesses that rely on technology advancement and the protection thereof have been encumbered.

Objectives:

  • Implications of the pandemic on law practice, alongwith the legal issues raised by the Covid-19 pandemic and how some of the issues were or are being resolved.
  • The effects of the pandemic on various businesses as well as effects on legal practice for protection of proprietary technology, including changes in practices and     procedures.
  • Updates on recent case law that may affect current practice related to disclosure of inventive concepts.

Cheryl Farine is a principal with HUDAK, SHUNK & FARINE, an intellectual property practice in Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio. She has been with Hudak, Shunk and Farine since 2000 and is a member of the Ohio Bar, Federal District Court (N.D.
