The circular economy is a paradigm shift for industry and society, according to The Association of the European Adhesive and Sealant Industry (FEICA), who actively supports efforts to improve product efficiency and circularity to help create a more sustainable society.

This webinar will provide an overview on legislative and societal trends in the circular economy across the EU and US and how these trends impact the design criteria for the opportunity to certify foodservice packaging for acceptance at industrial composting facilities.

Attendees will gain insights of what composting accomplishes within the circular economy, along with certification & labeling requirements for compostable foodservice packaging in the EU and US.

This webinar will connect end-of-life management solutions, with a focus on industrial composting, to the role the adhesive and sealant industry can take to enable a circular economy

  • Brief intro of topic, speaker info, brief explanation of who NatureWorks is, learning objectives, agenda
  • Legislation across EU & US on product bans, organics bans, greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, and the circular economy as a response to customer/public demands for more sustainable products, disposal options, and product bans resulting in increased interest in compostable foodservice packaging
  • What some brands are doing in response
  • Provide definitions such as: circular economy, end of life, biobased, renewable materials, disintegration, biodegradable, organics recycling, composting, compost, compostable packaging; provide an overview of certification requirements, including testing and guidance; and highlight labeling and identification requirements
  • Explain the additional benefits of compost, beyond providing a solution to legislative trends already mentioned, including land management and carbon (GHG) sequestration
  • Connect back to how the adhesive and sealant industry can design for circularity, using composting, an end of life management option, as an example
