Description

Polymer materials form the backbone of major adhesives, sealants, and coatings. Computational material techniques such as molecular simulation provides insight into the behavior of major polymer systems and properties of interest. This insight can range from pure predictive power to aid in screening new chemistries to fundamental understanding the controlling factors of a property. Though computational materials as a field has been in existence for 50+ years, the convergence of compute power with technologies such as GPU's and more robust scientific techniques now allow these tools to move from academic space to industrial research and design. This webinar will review examples of computational materials solutions in the areas of networked epoxies/amine, acrylates and urethanes for properties such as glass transition, fluid interactions and behavior at interfaces.

Presenter:


Andrea Browning – Schrödinger

Andrea Browning is responsible for leading efforts related to polymeric materials simulation in Schrödinger Materials Science. Prior to joining Schrödinger in 2017, she was a lead research engineer and project manager at The Boeing Company. She brings a decade of experience in connecting industrial, engineering problems to root materials issues and how simulations can be used to inform industrial decisions. She was a NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara and received her Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from that institution.
