EPA Requests that Medium and Long-Chained Chlorinated Paraffins Production Be Terminated By May 2016

What’s at Issue: ASC has learned recently that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has requested that manufacturers of medium-chained (MCCP) and long-chained chlorinated paraffins (LCCP) discontinue production of these materials by May 2016.  In private correspondence to the manufacturers, EPA rationalized this approach based on concerns for a risk to environmental organisms, as well as persistence and bioaccumulation potential indicated by Draft Risk Assessments undertaken by the agency.
