Trudeau Impressed by 3M Innovations During Tour in London, Ontario

Posted By ASC, Friday, April 28, 2017

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently took a tour of 3M’s facilities in London. The adhesive tape which 3M has produced as an alternative to rivets in aerospace and automotive applications was among the products that were demonstrated. 3M asked Trudeau to test the strength of its tape by dropping a sledgehammer onto two pieces of thin metal joined with the new tape, prompting further questions from the Canadian PM.

“How does it react to extreme heat?” he asked. The answer may well have surprised him since 3M™ VHB™ Tape retains its properties at temperatures ranging between– 40°C (- 40°F) and 66°C (150°F). Put it underwater for ten years, and the tape still holds, and even hurricane-force winds don’t affect it.
