DELO Releases New Flame Retardant Epoxy Resin Adhesive for Aircraft Interiors

Posted By ASC, Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Adhesives for aircraft interiors have to fulfil several requirements, among these, the requirements for fire protection, along with good aesthetic qualities for a neat and attractive finish. DELO’s new DELO-DUOPOX AB8390 two-part epoxy resin has fulfilled fire protection requirements including those for low flammability, smoke density and toxicity. It tolerates temperatures ranging from -55 °C to +85 °C. In addition, the adhesive is highly resistant to unsightly yellowing, maintaining a pure white color in 1,000-hour tests at a humidity level of 85% and a temperature of +70 °C.

Easy application is made possible through the DELO-AUTOMIX system, which automatically mixes the two components during application. It cures within 30 minutes, but will cure faster if subjected to temperatures of around 60 °C. According to the company the adhesive will be especially suitable for bonding lightweight sandwich panels. It will be suitable for load-bearing connections as well as ditch and pot applications.
