Henkel Releases New Silicone Sealant for Auto Manufacturers

Posted By ASC, Tuesday, August 23, 2016

A new two-part silicone sealant from Henkel is able to reach full cure at temperatures ranging from 25 to 180 degrees Celsius according to the company. BERGQUIST TLB 400 SLT provides an adaptable alternative that can be used in a variety of manufacturing processes. Henkel says it adjusts the cure profile of the adhesive to meet manufacturers’ needs. Thus, the adhesive can be made to cure rapidly at room temperature, or it can be primed to cure extremely quickly at higher temperatures.

The sealant is able to bond to a wide range of substrates including aluminum, steel and composites, and elongation can reach 400% before breakage occurs. The sealant has been used successfully in hybrid and electric car modules, engine control units, integrated brake control modules and other electronic enclosures. It remains reliable across a range of operating temperatures and tolerates humidity and exposure to automotive fluids.
