Dow Chemical and Nordmeccanica have signed a collaboration agreement that will combine the development of new adhesives and machines for the flexible packaging and industrial markets. The collaborative activities will take place at Dow’s Global Pack Studios in Italy which houses a center for innovation and training, equipped with a Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 laminator line.
New prototypes in laminated packaging will be tested at the facility with the intention of fast-tracking the development of new technologies, making them market-ready in a shorter time-frame. New adhesive solutions for flexible packaging are expected to be commercialized as early as this year.
Dow noted that the collaboration effort could be expanded to encompass additional facilities around the globe in the near future, and observed that its polyurethane, acrylics and polyethylene product development expertise would facilitate the drive for accelerated innovation.
