Cyberbond LLC has introduced a new thixotropic, UV curable medical-grade adhesive for the bonding of multiple substrates in needle assembly. These include metals, plastics and glass, and both similar and dissimilar substance used in needle assembly can be bonded using the adhesive. Curing of cyberlite U306 takes as little as 4 seconds when exposed to UV radiation, and sheer strength on polycarbonate is 500 – 700 psi. The Apollo range of adhesives from Cyberbond bonds metal, rubber and plastics and consists of rapid-curing cyanoacrylate adhesives.
Permabond Engineering Adhesives have developed a range of durable and flexible epoxies for engineering applications and the electronics industry, including self-leveling Permabond MT382 and non-flowing MT3821. The epoxies can be used to bond and seal a number of substrates, including various plastics, metals and nylon. One of the primary advantages of these epoxies is the low shrinkage during curing, making the epoxies suitable for use in sensitive electronic assemblies.
Novagard Solutions Inc. on the other hand, is focusing on its UV-cure silicone sealants that allow for rapid curing. An additive can be introduced in order to allow for rapid curing even when it is not possible to introduce UV light. The flexible, solvent-free sealant adheres to plastics, metals and other common substrates.
