ITW Pillar Technologies, manufacturers of surface treatment and induction cap sealants for the packaging, converting and printing industries, has introduced a new surface treatment electrode gapping system that will make precise electrode gapping easier. Operators of corona and atmospheric plasma stations are required to achieve extremely precise air-gaps, and prior to the introduction of the new surface treatment product, this had to be achieved using feeler gauges. This manual method of air-gap setting was often difficult to achieve with the necessary precision.
The new surface treatment makes it possible for the operator to set up and adjust air gaps from their HMI stations. The precision electronic setting of the electrode-to-ground roll gap, results in perfect air gap settings and a reduction in errors and waste by ensuring consistent surface adhesion and treatment levels and is already in use internationally on both wide and narrow web treating systems.
