Henkel AG & Co. is looking forward to growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Two years ago, Henkel opened their Dragon plant in Shanghai and since then the company has continued to invest in this region. Christian Kirsten, senior vice president of adhesive technologies has commented that Henkel sees Asia as a key global market, with China as Henkel’s second largest single market. “Per capita usage of adhesives in Asia is six times lower than in developed countries in North America and Europe,” Kirsten commented, “The market for adhesives in Asia remains largely untapped but will continue to grow exponentially, posing a great development opportunity.” Research and development is key to Henkel’s plan for continued growth in Asia. Demand for adhesives is likely to grow in communications and transportation, including high-speed trains and lightweight vehicles.
