Henkel Adhesive, a subsidiary of Henkel Ltd, has plans to set up India’s largest adhesive plant in Kurkumbh, near Pune. Henkel’s investment in the new plant will total approximately 30 million Euro. The new plant is expected to be complete and start production in 2017. It will focus on automotive, metal and industrial adhesives. Jeremy Hunter—President Henkel Group India—said, “This plant will enable us to localise our product portfolio and reduce imports while bringing the best global technology to India. Considering the proximity of the plant to our customers, it will also help us to work closely with them in developing solutions.” After the first phase of construction, the Kurkumbh plant will have an operational area of about 20,000 square meters and an annual capacity expected to be 80,000 metric tons of adhesives and surface treatments. This plant is a part of Henkel’s global strategy to expand sales and business growth in emerging markets.
