Four Reasons why Hands-Free Hot Melt Makes Sense

Posted By ASC, Thursday, June 11, 2015

Whether setting up a new packaging system or looking to approve safety and efficiency on an existing system, hands-free hot melt adhesives are an area worth considering. In manual packaging operations, a hands-free hot melt system allows the user to keep both hands on the material being glued. A foot switch controls the flow of adhesive so the substrate can be manipulated under the nozzle. Hands-free systems typically save time and cost and improve safety and package quality. These systems improve time savings and cost by allowing more efficient packaging and reducing adhesive consumption with precise dispensing quantities. Since the operator is not picking up and putting down the substrate or applicator, there is less opportunity for exposure to the hot melt and less hand fatigue. Finally, hands-free systems can be programmed for a consistent repeatable adhesive pattern, which improves consistency and quality of packaging.
