Council Looks to Ensure Program Alignment and Increase Engagement via Knowledge Sharing

September 12, 2014 – Bethesda, MD – The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) will host a special committee knowledge integration session to inform committee members about the key initiatives being developed across each of the five standing committees.  The special committee knowledge integration meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 22 from 3:30 to 4:00, immediately following the normally held committee meetings, which run from 2:30 to 3:30.

The special meeting is designed to allow the five standing ASC Committees:  membership, global resources, industry voice, marketing and technical education – to stay informed about each other’s activities within the Council’s governance model.  The Committee Knowledge Integration meeting will provide a short, five minute update on key action items to the larger committee membership.  The Council expects this knowledge sharing session to be a standing meeting at future conventions.

“During the past two events, members came to me asking what the other committees were working on and how that impacted some of the programs they were walking on, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to bring everyone together to share and integrate their work with that of the other groups,” notes Steve Duren, Senior Director, Member Services at ASC.  “This effort—in two words—is about awareness and engagement.  We want all of the committees to be aware of what the others are doing so that they can support engagement as the programs come to market or move to execution.”

ASC will have its five committee leaders actively participate in the session, including:

  • Membership Committee Chair; Shamsi Gravel, Vice President, Emerald Kalama
  • Technical Committee Chair:  Bill Arendt, Research Fellow, Emerald Kalama
  • Regulatory Affairs Chair:  Neema Toolabee, Manager, Regulatory and Environ. Affairs, DAP
  • Global Resources Chair:  Larry Saidman, Chief Technologist, Adhesives, Nordson Corporation
  • Marketing Committee Board Liaison:  Chris Urheim, Market Director, Adhesives, Dow

“This effort will strongly support alignment as it relates to the newly adopted Long Range Plan,” notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC.  “With so many new programs and services in development, it’s critical that our volunteer leaders have at least a fundamental understanding of what each of the committees are working on, in order to ensure alignment and engagement at their own companies.  I look forward to this evolution of our committee meetings as we collaborate together to innovate.”

The ASC Committee Meeting will take place as part of the Fall Convention and EXPO being held October 20-22, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina.  For more information on the Convention and EXPO, click here.
