STI Polymer is in the process of expanding their Sanford, NC site. The expansion will relieve bottlenecks at the warehouse and research & development center. STI has invested about one million dollars and broke ground back in August. By June 2015, the company expects to have completed a new 14,000 ft2 warehouse. Meanwhile, a three-year plan includes a new reactor at the site to increase production, with the possibility for added jobs. Growth in construction related products, in particular pressure sensitive acrylic polymers for flooring adhesives and water based roofing adhesives, has made expanded production and storage space essential. STI’s primary market is water based, pressure sensitive acrylic polymers for packaging, roofing, and construction. Expansions in their product offerings are targeting areas of the market that will not compete with current customers who use STI polymers in adhesive formulation.
