Dow Automotive Systems introduced three new adhesives: Megum 5386, Thixon P-21 and Thixon 526. These products are used to bond elastomeric materials to metals, plastics, and other elastomers. The adhesives can be used on a range of common automotive parts such as belts, hoses, mounts, bushings and seals. Frank Billotto, business marketing manager for Dow, noted that these adhesives were developed with a focus on optimizing system costs. The Megum and Thixon products are low-viscosity, organic, solvent-based solutions and dispersions of polymers and reactive chemicals. These lines include clear, non-pigmented adhesives and water-based products. Megum 5386 is a cover coat adhesive for general use with soft and difficult to bond elastomers. Thixon P-21 and Thixon 526 are an octyl-phenol-free primer and cover coat system. Thixon P-21 and Thixon 526 can be used separately or together.
