LIFEWATCH GETS FDA CLEARANCE FOR REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING ADHESIVE

The FDA recently approved a new adhesive patch for remote patient monitoring. By making use of a disposable adhesive strip, the patch can monitor ECG, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature, movement and the computing power to store data. With battery power, the patch can collect and store five to seven days of data, leaving patients free of wired monitors and straps to attach monitors. With an associated Android app, the patch can transmit data and generate customized alerts. This means in an emergency situation, this system offers the additional benefits of collecting and transmitting patients’ vital signs to the hospital before the patient arrives. With small size, lightweight and an easy adhesive attachment, this monitoring system can be used in hospital, ambulance, nursing home and home care.
