Green Biologics has successfully completed the acquisition of Ethanol Cooperative LLC (CMEC). Green Biologics Inc. in the fully owned US subsidiary of Green Biologics Ltd. in the UK. The company focuses on industrial biotechnology and renewable chemicals. In the wake of this acquisition, Ethanol Cooperative facilities will be repurposed by Green Biologics to produce renewable n-butanol and acetone using a proprietary advanced fermentation process. N-butanol is both a solvent and an intermediate in producing derivatives used for paints, coatings, adhesives, inks, cosmetics, personal care ingredients, industrial and household cleaners and specialty products. Acetone is a backbone intermediate for multiple high-value products, and is used as a solvent in paints, coatings, adhesives, inks, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, electronics and laboratory chemicals. Current management and employees at the Minnesota plant will remain with the production facility and renewable n-butanol and acetone production is scheduled to begin in 2016.
